The Denguru (shaman drum) is the traveling vehicle of the shaman.  It is is said to consist of 13 brothers - 12 parts making up the drum and the shaman as the 13th element.  The handle is a Phurba intricately carved to express the Triple world. The drum’s skin is water buffalo and contains 3 magical objects inside, a piece of quartz crystal, a piece of copper representing the blood of shiva, and a Rudraksha seed, These rattle and give energy and added spirit to the drum. The Denguru is treated with the utmost respect as a living being assisting the shaman's life path and journey.
