About Smudging
Smudging is a way to cleanse a person, place, or an object of unwanted or unhealthy energies. It involves the burning of sacred plants, then passing an object through the smoke or fanning the smoke around a person or place.
When we smudge we are asking the spirit of sacred plants for assistance. Using Sage to "smudge" is a simple and powerful way to clear your energy field, purify emotions, and remove negative energy from the area.
A traditional way to smudge is to offer the smoke to the four directions first, calling the blessings of the spiritual forces of each direction. Then you fan the smoke around you, visualizing the smoke carrying away all that is unneeded.
